Digging into the Past
Become a real archaeologist for a day! Pupils handle genuine Roman and medieval artefacts, learn excavation techniques and piece together the story of ancient Chichester. A memorable, hands-on experience that links directly to history and science curricula.

Everything you need to know about booking a learning session.
School visits can be booked by contacting our learning team via email or telephone. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and session type. A deposit is not required, but we do ask that you confirm final numbers 48 hours before your visit.
School visits to The Novium Museum are free of charge for Chichester District schools. For schools outside the district, a small charge per pupil applies to cover materials and resources. Please get in touch for a detailed price list.
Absolutely. We are committed to making our learning programmes accessible to all. Our team is experienced in working with pupils with a wide range of additional needs and can adapt sessions accordingly. Please let us know your requirements when booking so we can plan ahead.
Our sessions are designed for classes of up to 35 pupils. Larger groups can be accommodated by splitting across different galleries or booking multiple time slots. We ask for a minimum ratio of one adult to ten children.
